The RISSafety product certification process from design and install

At RISSafety, we understand the importance of delivering reliable and high-quality products to our customers. Our thorough product certification process plays a crucial role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality. Through rigorous testing, evaluations, and compliance checks we can guarantee that our products perform as intended and consistently meet customer expectations.

Guaranteeing product quality

Product certification is a comprehensive process that involves various stages, starting from design and extending throughout the manufacturing and testing phases. By adhering to a meticulous certification process, we can identify and rectify any potential design flaws, performance issues or safety concerns early on.

RISSafety undertakes a robust certification process of its products to ensure compliance with international standards, says Ross Fitzpatrick, Technical Manager at RISSafety.

Ross says the organisation follows these steps as part of the product certification process:

  • Client requires a product or configuration that we don’t have. Alternatively, we expand on our product range and develop a new product.
  • We develop a concept based on the needs and seek input from relevant staff at RIS on the feasibility of the concept.
  • We create 3D design and manufacturing drawings from the concept and decide if we need to purchase additional material.
  • We conduct physical testing in our warehouse to ensure that the product or configuration complies with the relevant Australian standards.
  • If something doesn’t work, we review the design and failure method to tweak the design until it passes.
  • Once our internal testing complies, we provide the information to an independent third-party company that specialises in structural engineering. They thoroughly review and verify that the testing was completed in accordance with the relevant standards.
  • We are provided with certification based on this independent testing.
  • Once certification is achieved, we release the product or configuration to the market or install for the client.

Meeting industry standards and regulations

In Australia’s highly regulated business environment, compliance with industry standards and regulations is essential. Product certification ensures that our practices and products adhere to the relevant standards. This not only enhances our credibility but also gives our customers confidence in the quality and safety of our offerings.

By subjecting our products to rigorous testing and evaluation, we can demonstrate their compliance with industry-specific standards, such as ISO certifications, safety regulations and environmental requirements. This adherence to standards not only enables us to stay in line with legal obligations but also positions us as a trusted manufacturer in the market.

David Soanes, Chief Operating Officer at RISSafety, says the company builds quality into every stage of their processes and seeks to exceed expectations to deliver safe solutions and peace of mind to clients.

“This enables us to produce products that are dependable, durable and built to withstand real-world conditions,” he says.

Mitigating risks and ensuring safety

Product safety is of paramount importance, and the certification process is instrumental in mitigating potential risks. Thorough testing and evaluation procedures help identify and rectify any safety vulnerabilities before any RISSafety products reach customers. This approach not only protects end-users but also safeguards our reputation as a responsible and reliable manufacturer.

During the certification process, we assess factors such as electrical safety, material compatibility, ergonomic design and potential hazards. By identifying and addressing potential risks early in the process, we minimise the chances of product failures, accidents or other safety incidents. Our commitment to product safety goes beyond compliance; it reflects our dedication to providing products that can be trusted in various applications and environments.

For example, any roof safety systems that we have designed, manufactured and installed are tested and certified by independent third parties to ensure safety and ongoing reliability.

Enhancing customer confidence

Product certification plays a pivotal role in building customer trust. Customers can make informed decisions, knowing that our products have undergone thorough evaluation and testing and meet the highest quality and safety requirements.

Certifications act as tangible evidence of our commitment to excellence. They provide customers with the assurance that our products have met stringent criteria and undergone rigorous scrutiny.

Our thorough product certification process ensures that our products are of exceptional quality, comply with industry standards and regulations, mitigate risks, ensure safety and build customer confidence. By investing in comprehensive product certification, we demonstrate our commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality products that meet and exceed the expectations of our valued customers.
