Project Overview
RISSafety returned to Scotch Oakburn College’s Elphin Campus in Newstead, Tasmania, to complete the first scheduled 12-month height safety inspection of a rooftop system we previously designed and installed.
The inspection focused on reviewing the condition of all installed height safety components, confirming the system remains compliant and completing the recertification documentation to support the ongoing safe use of the roof by maintenance and service teams.
The Requirement
The Elphin Campus rooftop includes a complete height safety and access setup, including:
- Anchor points
- Strops
- Ladder brackets
- Safety signage
With solar panels and other rooftop structures also in place, the height safety system was designed to integrate easily with them. This allows maintenance teams move around the roof safely while having clear, unobstructed access to key areas or equipment in the rooftop layout.
For rooftop equipment and height safety components exposed to UV, moisture, temperature changes, and day-to-day wear over time, scheduled inspections matter. These check-ups help ensure each component remains in good condition, and the system continues to perform safely and reliably.
The RISSafety Solution
As part of the scheduled recertification process, RISSafety’s height safety equipment inspectors carried out a detailed inspection of all installed components. The aim was to verify compliance with the applicable Australian Standards and manufacturer requirements, and to provide clear documentation for the College.
Detailed Condition Assessment
Each anchor point, strop, ladder bracket, and safety sign was visually checked against its expected condition and installed configuration. This provides a clear snapshot of the system’s current state at the 12-month mark.
Early Identification of Deterioration
This inspection was essential to identify early on signs of wear, corrosion, environmental damage, or deterioration. This way, we can detect anything that affects performance or increases the risk for anyone accessing the roof.
Compliance Verification and Recertification
All findings were recorded as formal compliance verification and recertification documentation, giving the College clear evidence that the system remains compliant and safe to use.

With the inspection and recertification complete, the Elphin Campus rooftop is ready for safe, ongoing access, giving maintenance and service teams greater confidence when working at height.
