Keeping things moving – safety in Australia’s transport sector

January 21 2022

Sydney MetrioRISsafety has unique capabilities across the transport sector nationally, which is backed by Australia’s largest branch network. We’ve delivered services and height safety solutions to more than 300 train stations around Australia, not to mention transport distribution centres, petrol stations and bus terminals.

Partnering up for your safety

Throughout the pandemic and beyond, we have continued to operate to provide services and support to our transport partners, noting the crucial role they play within our communities. Whatever outside challenges, one thing is certain – communities will always need to stay connected and on the move. For decades we have utilised our full range of capabilities across Australia’s transport industry, with our dedicated account managers working closely with our partners to gain an understanding of their ongoing maintenance requirements and tailor the appropriate package and levels of documentation based on our client’s risk profiles.

Services we provide

  • Custom safe access, roof safety and egress systems

We’ve worked with several national transport carriers to inspect, design and install egress systems, roof safety systems and safe access points for personnel, to ensure a compliant and secure work environment. Because we look after design, manufacturing and installation, you can be assured of an efficient, high-quality safety system that best serves your needs. We can provide all aspects of a height safety or confined access system including handrails, walkways, rail systems, and more.

  • Fall arrest systems in traffic tunnels

While it’s best to work in an environment that eliminates fall risks, we know that isn’t always possible, particularly when it comes to working in environments such as traffic tunnels. We offer a wide range of industry leading solutions for fall arrest systems to mitigate injury risk. Our engineers will assess your site and identify and install key anchor points. We can also provide the most appropriate Personal Protective Equipment including harnesses, ropes and lanyards, with thorough training on use and maintenance.

  • Annual compliance inspections

Whether for an international airport or suburban transport hub our team are well-versed in Australian and NZ Safety Standards and can provide comprehensive annual compliance inspections and certification. If you’re unsure of where your structures and facilities stand on height safety, our RIS WHS consultants are trained to conduct audits and provide recommendations where necessary.

On site safety inspection

  • Risk mitigation and removal

Not only can we help you identify risks, our team can also provide solutions to mitigate or remove those risks entirely, improving the safety of not only you and your team, but the wider community. In 2018 we removed nine dangerous level crossings from one of the busiest railway lines in Melbourne, the Caulfield to Dandenong Railway, dramatically improving traffic congestion. We also developed and installed height safety solutions for the confined spaces along the elevated railway, which were all custom designed to ensure that the systems met the exact requirements for the spaces to maximise worker safety.

  • Custom, end-to-end solutions

No matter what your height safety requirement, RISsafety truly is a one-stop shop. From site audit through to design, manufacture, installation and ongoing inspections, our qualified team is here to ensure you are getting high-quality service and bespoke systems that not only exceed Australian & New Zealand standards, but meet your exact safety needs.
