To help, Safe Work Australia has just published new guidance filled with practical information to assist building managers, owners, body corporate, principal contractors and other PCBUs to stay on top of their work health and safety requirements and responsibilities associated with these access systems.
What’s in the guide?
The guide details all the duties and obligations (in accordance with the model Work Health and Safety laws) involved in assessing and managing hazards and risks commonly encountered with industrial rope access systems. It covers:
- selection and installation of anchors
- anchor access and layout
- anchor inspection and testing

- rope protection, and
- exclusion zones.
To fully understand your role and responsibilities, and manage site risks effectively, it is also important to:
- Refer to other Safe Work Australia materials such as the Model Code of Practice, as well as advice from your WHS state regulator as legislation varies across jurisdictions.
