Meet the Team

Chris Anders
Operations Manager - NSW/ACT

I'm Chris Anders, Operations Manager at RISsafety since 2015. I'm a Cronulla Sharks supporter, I enjoy home renovations and barbecues. What makes RISsafety different to other height safety providers, in my opinion, is our ability to provide turnkey solutions. My role as Operations Manager has given me the opportunity to work on many projects to help our team provide better service to our customers. In particular, I've enjoyed working on relocating branches like we did in Hobart. If you are looking for a long term safety systems partner, then get in touch with us today.

Rachel Baldacchino
Project Administrator - NSW/ACT

I'm Rachel Baldacchino, NSW/ACT Project Administrator. As part of the RISsafety team for the last 6 years, I have really enjoyed working on projects such as the North West Rail Link - Rapid Transit Rail Facility. Having grown up in the area, I found this project really interesting on a personal level too. What I love most about RISsafety is that all our staff are dedicated and they consult with clients from the design stage right through to installation and handover on each project. Working with such a dedicated team is really motivating. If you would like help with your next height safety project, please get in touch.

Ben Bennett
Branch Manager - Far North QLD

Hi, I'm Ben Bennett, Branch Manger for RISsafety's Far North Queensland Branch. As a result of witnessing not only firsthand but other incidents I became very passionate about how safety was implemented in the workplace. When the opportunity arose to be part of a company whom design, manufacture and install products and services that not only save people's lives but potentially change how the height safety industry operated - it was a no brainer to join the team. If you need help with any safety requirements in the Far North Queensland region, please get in touch with me.

Joanne Bourke
Purchasing Supervisor

Hi I’m Joanne Bourke Purchasing Supervisor for RISsafety. I began as Purchasing Assistant in October of 2010, working part time during school hours. As time went by, I took on more roles such as PPE stock control and developed several spreadsheets to help track orders and stock levels. In February of 2019 I changed to full time, my title changed from Purchasing assistant to Operations Coordinator as managers noticed that I was branching into areas beyond that of solely purchasing. I attained my Certificate IV in Purchasing mid 2020 through TAFE online and have been able to implement different strategies involving client/supplier relationships as well as risk management procedures. December 2020 saw the position of Senior Purchasing Officer become available, and I was more than happy to slide over and fill the gap. With just over 10 years worth of product and industry knowledge, along with having already built a great rapport with many of our suppliers; this transition has been seamless. I am proud to be a part of the RIS family and am eager to move onwards and upwards in my new role.

Colin Dengate
Business Development Manager - NSW

I'm Colin Dengate and I've been part of the RISsafety team for 15 years. As a Business Development Manager in NSW, I have seen many projects over the years, and I particularly enjoyed working on Central Railway Station as we had to involve the use of a helicopter! I follow the Canterbury Bulldogs and enjoy weekend trips to the coast. At RISsafety, we install our own systems and that makes a huge difference for our partners. Feel free to get in touch with me to chat about your ongoing height safety projects.

Laura Grech
Company Accountant

Hi. I'm Laura. I'm new to RISsafety, joining the team at the beginning of April as Company Accountant. The RISsafety team has been really welcoming and the company seems to have a great culture with lots of opportunities. I also love the fact that they try to retain good people within the business. Being the chairperson of the workplace committee in my last role, I am very excited to be working for a safety company and am keen to learn more about safety whilst working at heights. I'm currently studying my Bachelor of Business in my 'down-time', so that keeps me busy, along with my two children and husband. I also have a French Bulldog, Chanel, who is my little best friend.

Barry Johnson

I'm Barry Johnson, CEO of RISsafety. At RISsafety we believe in doing all that we can to ensure that we and those around us are protected from harm, so people go home to their families after work each day. Safety is a system that includes products, practices and activities that we undertake to complete our work tasks, and the culture that we all build to protect everyone. Alice Morgan

Hi I’m Alice Morgan. I completed a Bachelor of Environmental Science at La Trobe University followed by Honours at the University of Tasmania. In 2009 I started in a Data Entry Role with a business later acquired by RISsafety in 2011. Upon acquisition, I transitioned into a role as the National Recertification and Client Manager whilst also managing installation. Recently I moved into a newly created position as the National Project Manager. There is an amazing bunch of people at RIS and there are always new challenges day in and day out. RIS has always been extremely supportive of my aspirations in life, from maternity leave right through to encouraging me to grow, learn and develop professionally. The things I love most in life is my husband, my 3 children, my family, friends, helping people, some competition on the hockey field and being an organiser.

Ashley Norton

Hi - I'm Ashley. I'm the Leading Hand at RISsafety's VIC Branch. The thing I most like about working for RISsafety is that no two days are ever the same; there is always something to try and solve. I love footy and the mighty Saints. In my spare time, I like to go motorbike riding in the bush, I also like getting my road bike out and just hitting the freeway to clear my mind. I also enjoy taking the family out with friends on a long weekend with the camper trailer and just exploring our backyard.

Steven Peng

Nǐ hǎo, wǒ jiào Steven Peng. I’m thrilled to be with RIS as an onboarding specialist for our Services Team. I previously worked in the packaging industry where we conceptualised and started Tasmania’s first fully compostable food packing supplier arranging everything from manufacturing in China, process development to customer care. My professional career started as an Accountant at FTSE China A50 Index listed Ping An Bank however I realised I am passionate about helping people, continuously challenging myself and solving problems. I have a Masters of Professional Accounting and a Masters of International and Development Economics. I’m excited to learn about a new industry and also the opportunities ahead. RIS have some great partners and I’m looking forward to working with them to ensure they have compliant systems so people can go home safely to their loved ones. In life I’m proudest of my gorgeous 5 year old daughter and the life that we are able to create here in Australia. We were drawn to the natural beauty of Tasmania and the relaxed atmosphere after holidaying whilst I was at University. It has some of the best spots where we can go hiking or fishing of a weekend.

Todd Uppington
Project Manager - SA

Hi. I’m Todd Uppington, the Project Manager for the South Australian branch. I have been with RISsafety for almost 6.5 years where I started as an installer, and after 6 months I was lucky enough to be offered a promotion as Installation Supervisor. In 2017 the business had grown to a point where we were able to create a new role for a Project Manager to help with the increased workload for the Installation team. I was lucky enough to be offered the position which I happily accepted and was keen to jump in and learn new skills. We have such a great team at RISsafety, and I have been lucky enough to work alongside many of them over the years to deliver some incredible results for our wide range of clients. I have worked on some great projects, including the Adelaide Oval Roof Climb, University of South Australia HIB Building and Thebarton Town Hall, just to name a few. There isn’t a day that goes by, where you aren’t challenged, but with a great team, we are able to create fantastic solutions to keep our clients and end-users of our systems safe, so they can go home to their families every night. It is very rewarding, and I can’t think of a better place to be working.
